Narcisa Pricope

Narcisa Pricope is the Director of Research and Development for the Center for Geospatial Information Technology and a professor in Virginia Tech’s Department of Geography. A human–environment geographer and geospatial scientist, she integrates remote sensing, GeoAI, geospatial modeling, and uncrewed aerial systems to understand environmental change and develop operational decision-support capabilities. Her research spans environmental and infrastructure resilience, land degradation, drought, agricultural biosecurity, and interconnected food–water–energy systems, with work across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and North America. She has authored or coauthored more than 75 peer-reviewed articles and led major interdisciplinary research initiatives supported by federal, state, and industry partners. At Virginia Tech, she focuses on expanding CGIT’s research portfolio, building strategic partnerships, and developing innovative GEOINT and environmental-intelligence capabilities and workforce pathways.
