Virginia's Stormwater Runoff Impact Evaluation

Trash accumulating after a heavy rain.
Trash accumulating after a heavy rain.

Funded by the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), this project seeks to develop a
watershed management and decision making tool that will enable regulators and site developers to rank and select the best management practices (BMPs) for reducing stormwater runoff impacts. The results are expected to facilitate cost-effective implementation of stormwater management permitting regulations, as well as help improve the water quality at the watershed level in the long run.

The project is the product of collaboration between faculty and researchers from Virginia Tech’s
Virginia Water Resources Research Center, the Center for Geospatial Information Technology, and
the Via Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering.
